Liturgical Ministries have to do with all the particular services and ministries that happen to facilitate our Catholic worship. Here is an overview of each of the ministries at Mass:
- Altar Servers: Young men and women who serve at the altar and assist the priest in the celebration of Mass.
- Lectors: Those who proclaim the Scripture readings at Mass must be trained for this important ministry of sharing God’s Word with the congregation.
- Eucharistic Ministers: Those who assist the priest in distributing Holy Communion. One must have received Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation in order to be trained and commissioned as a Eucharistic Minister
- Welcoming Ministry: Anyone who wishes to “welcome” the members of our parish to Church each Sunday in a spirit of hospitality!
- Ushers: Those who assist in taking up the collection and are on hand to meet the needs of those who are present at Mass.
- Sacristans: Those who make certain everything is set up for Mass including the “gifts” table and main altar. Part of this ministry is to launder the linens used at Mass and to help clean the sacred vessels used during the Mass.
