Contact: Susan Scaffidi, Music Director
The Music Ministry always welcomes those who have a musical gift to share—as a singer or an instrumentalist. St. Elizabeth’s is blessed with several music ensembles, that, along with our cantors and accompanists, provide music for the 4:30 Mass on Saturday and the 7:30, 9:30 and 11:30 Masses on Sunday morning. The commitment to participating in our music ensembles includes attendance at all scheduled rehearsals.
In addition to providing music at regularly scheduled Masses, all of our ensembles participate in the Holy Days and seasons of the Church: Advent; Christmas; Lent; Triduum; Easter Sunday and many other Holy Days.
Children’s Choir: The SEAS Children’s Choir meets Tuesday evenings from 6-7 p.m. to learn songs to lead the congregation monthly. The Children’s Choir usually sings on the fourth Sunday of the month at the 11:30 Mass. All children ages 5 and up are welcome; reading ability preferred. Rehearsals start August 25 and continue through Mother’s Day.
Youth Ensemble: The SEAS Youth Ensemble is comprised of high school and college students and young adults, providing a mix of contemporary and traditional Catholic hymns. The Youth Ensemble usually leads the congregation on the first and third Sunday of the month at the 11:30 Mass. Rehearsals are on Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:30 year-round.
Adult Choir: The SEAS Adult Choir accepts young through mature adults, and sings on the first and third Sundays at the 9:30 Mass. The Adult Choir rehearses weekly on Tuesdays from 7:30 to 8:30, and goes on hiatus during the summer. The ability to read music is not required, but is very helpful.
The parish is also blessed with a number of excellent cantors and accompanists. Please contact the music director for assistance in planning music for weddings, funerals and other services.
