"At the Last Supper, on the night he was betrayed, our Savior instituted the Eucharistic sacrifice of his Body and Blood. This he did in order to perpetuate the sacrifice of the cross throughout the ages until he should come again, and so to entrust to his beloved Spouse, the Church, a memorial of his death and resurrection: a sacrament of love, a sign of unity, a bond of charity, a Paschal banquet 'in which Christ is consumed, the mind is filled with grace, and a pledge of future glory is given to us.'" (Catechism of the Catholic Church, par. 1323

The Sacrament of the Eucharist is the focal point of our identity as Catholic-Christians. Through the celebration of the Mass, we remember the words of Jesus at the Last Supper when he proclaimed over the bread and wine, “This is my body….This is my blood.”   When we receive the Eucharist, we are strengthened by the presence of Christ within us and conformed to his image.

First Communion
Prior to the celebration of First Communion, children receive instruction about the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession). This is done through the parish’s At-Home Religious Education program. Children who are in the 2nd grade and have already completed their 1st year of religious education are prepared for the celebration of their First Communion when they can share the Body and Blood of Christ at the table of the Lord.

Catholic adults (those beyond high school), who have not yet made their First Communion, should contact Rory Duran, RCIA Coordinator.
