Grief Support

Grieving with Great Hope

In All Seasons of Life Our Church Family Unites in Prayer

Our next session begins on February 10, 2026. We will meet every Tuesday, from 2-4 PM, with our final session March 24, 2026.

The loss of a loved one through death is one of the most difficult things we experience in our journey through this life. There is nothing in our society that prepares one for the intensity of emotion and conflicting feelings manifested in our grief.

This program is a video-based program, for people who are mourning the loss of a loved one, provided by Good Mourning Ministry, a Catholic bereavement organization from Our Lady of Good Counsel parish in Michigan.  This program is prayerful, practical and personal.  Our 'presenters' are John and Sandy O'Shaughnessy, who have both suffered loss, and have found their way through, with the help of our Catholic faith.  They share what they've learned and provide education and encouragement as we embark on our grief journey.

Their vision is to be bearers of hope; to help transform our grief through prayerful reflection, practical learning and personal fellowship.  Jesus modeled for us how to grieve.  He prayed constantly.  He expressed many human emotions during His time on earth.  He wept when his friend, Lazarus died.  He was sorrowful.  He showed great compassion; he even got angry.  At Mass, we offer up our prayers for those who have entered eternal life, and for those who mourn them.  With faith comes hope, but faith alone does not prevent our broken hearts; we honor our humanness to grieve. Our workshops provide an environment that encourages participants to honor and remember their loved ones as well as to understand the evolving grief process. Whether one is a few months or several years past a loss, all are invited to attend our no-cost seven week series offered three times each year.
